There are detective websites that cost from $10-$99 to join and to look up a person’s unlisted phone number. It’s not an absolute guarantee that you’ll get the unlisted number but it’s worth a try.

The only time an online phone directory won’t help you is if the phone number you are looking for comes from a no contract phone. The phone and the number associated with it are purchased at a store without a contract. The person gets minutes on a prepaid card and doesn’t have to report his name or number to anyone. The number is totally anonymous.

An online phone directory can do much more than phone books can and are generally free. If you use a specialty directory, it will cost you money to do the lookup but you can get a wide variety of information about a person from such a directory.
